  • Me: *Finishes and gets transferred to my store to talk to a manager to confirm*
  • Woman: Hello, this is Walmart, can I help you?
  • Me: Hi, I'm a cashier here at store ####, I'm calling out sick today. Can I speak to a manager?
  • Woman: Store ####? This is Walmart...
  • Me: Yes, Walmart, store ####
  • Woman: Oh alright, let me transfer you
  • Me: *Facepalm*

“I can’t help but sit here right now and feel guilty…”

So, I’m a cashier. Today, an older African-American woman comes in to buy a wallet for herself and it turns out she grabbed the wrong one. She wanted the $5 wallet, but accidentally grabbed a $9 one. So I took her back to the wallets and helped her pick out the one she wanted. I took her back up to the register and rung-up her wallet. The total was $5.78, but she didn’t have $0.78, only a $5. So, I covered the difference with money from my own pocket. When she was leaving, I said “Have a great night, ma’am.” like I always do. She turned to me and said, “Thank you so much, and God bless you.”

I can’t help but sit here right now and feel guilty that I don’t have the same beliefs as her.
